I found a Gigabyte GO27Q24G 27-inch WOLED monitor for about $300. It runs at 1440p and 240Hz, and I currently use a 24-inch 1080p 185Hz display with an RTX 5070 12GB. OLED looks appealing, but my setup is in a fairly bright room. Is the upgrade worth it, and what should I expect regarding brightness, HDR, and burn-in?

At this price, it can be worth buying if you’re comfortable with the brightness limitations and the possibility of burn-in. Just don’t buy it purely because the discount feels urgent. Confirm the return policy, warranty coverage, brightness measurements, and whether the monitor has an appropriate OLED protection cycle. If those look good, the resolution and refresh-rate upgrade should be substantial.
Your room lighting is the biggest concern. Some more affordable WOLED monitors don’t get especially bright, which can make HDR less impressive and cause blacks to look less deep when sunlight or strong room lighting hits the screen. If you mostly play in a dim room, OLED is much easier to recommend; in a bright room, a good IPS monitor may give you a more consistent image.
OLED gives you excellent contrast, near-instant pixel response, and a very clean gaming image. The main trade-off is burn-in risk from static elements such as desktop taskbars, game HUDs, or windows left in the same position for long periods. Modern OLED monitors have pixel shifting and panel maintenance features that reduce the risk, but they don’t eliminate it. If you use the display for lots of static desktop work, IPS is the safer long-term choice.
The jump from 24-inch 1080p to 27-inch 1440p will be very noticeable, and your RTX 5070 should make good use of the higher resolution and refresh rate. At $300, this is a tempting OLED deal, but check detailed reviews of this exact model rather than judging by the panel type alone.
It’s the Gigabyte GO27Q24G. I found good reviews, although there aren’t many of them yet.

How likely is burn-in if I use it for gaming and regular desktop use?
