Is an ASUS RTX 2070 with Three Broken Fan Blades Worth $100?

I found an ASUS RTX 2070 that appears to be in excellent condition and comes with its original box. Two fans work normally, but the middle fan has three missing blades. The seller wants $100. Is replacing the fan a straightforward and inexpensive repair, or could the damage indicate a larger problem? I'm also planning to sell the completed build later, so I'm concerned that a repaired or improvised fan setup would hurt its resale value.

The card may still run with the damaged fan, but the imbalance can cause vibration, noise, and premature wear. You could replace the entire cooler from a parts card, but that adds cost and effort. Since you plan to sell the build, only buy it if the replacement is inexpensive and the total cost leaves enough room for a proper repair.

I’d be cautious at $100. Three missing blades could simply be accidental damage, but the impact that broke them might also have affected the heatsink, shroud, or PCB. Test temperatures, fan control, display outputs, and stability before buying. If you can’t test it, negotiate lower or pass.

Replacement fans are often available for specific ASUS models, and swapping one is usually much better than improvising. Confirm the exact card model and connector before buying, then check that the fan spins freely and the GPU passes a stress test. A proper replacement should be fine for resale; zip-tying a generic fan to the heatsink probably won’t look professional.

I found replacement fans listed for the exact model on an online marketplace. I’ll verify the connector and dimensions before ordering.

For a resale build, avoid a makeshift solution unless it’s temporary for testing. A genuine replacement fan or complete matching cooler will be easier to explain to a buyer, while an improvised zip-tied fan setup could make the card look unreliable.
