Is an AVR with built-in surge protection suitable for protecting my PC?

An AVR with surge protection can be appropriate, provided the unit is properly certified for your local mains voltage and has a clearly specified surge rating. Check the manual for the protection standard, joule rating, maximum load, and whether the outlets are actually surge-protected. The AVR’s wattage rating also needs to comfortably cover the PC and both monitors, not just the PC’s 1000W PSU label. Your power supply already has internal protection, so a reputable AVR or surge protector is mainly useful for handling voltage fluctuations and larger transients—not for making the system immune to every possible electrical problem.

The Forza unit is reasonable only if its specifications match your electrical system and its output capacity is high enough. Avoid relying on vague marketing claims—look for recognized safety certification and a real surge-protection rating. If those details are missing, a certified surge protector or line-interactive UPS from a reputable manufacturer would be a safer choice.

A basic power strip only adds outlets; it does not necessarily provide surge protection. A UPS can include surge protection and battery backup, but the battery is primarily there to give you time to save your work and shut down cleanly during an outage. It is not intended to let you keep gaming indefinitely without mains power. If you need continuous operation during a long outage, that requires a generator or another sustained power source.
