I'm looking to improve performance in newer games and take better advantage of my 27-inch 1440p 180Hz monitor. I currently have an RTX 3060 12GB and am considering upgrading to an RTX 5070 Ti. My 750W power supply has the recommended wattage and the correct cable, my case has enough room, and I expect my Core i5-12400F to be reasonable at 1440p. Would the 5070 Ti be a sensible long-term upgrade, or would another graphics card—or a different component upgrade—make more sense?

The Radeon 9070 XT is worth comparing before buying the 5070 Ti. It generally offers similar conventional gaming performance for less money, although Nvidia still has advantages in ray tracing, DLSS, and features such as frame generation. If you mainly care about rasterized performance and value, the 9070 XT may be the better deal.
Either card would be a huge jump from the RTX 3060 and should suit 1440p very well. Your i5-12400F may become the limiting factor in some games, especially when chasing very high refresh rates with an unlocked frame rate. Install the new GPU first, use DDU when changing drivers, and check GPU utilization. If the card is not reaching close to full utilization while the CPU is heavily loaded, then a faster CPU would be the next upgrade. Also, moving from 16GB to 32GB of RAM would be sensible for newer games and general multitasking.

That’s helpful. I’m mostly trying to figure out whether the ray-tracing and DLSS advantages are worth paying extra for. I’d also like to know how good FSR 4 is in actual use rather than just relying on reviews.
