I'm building a relatively future-proof PC and want DDR5-6400 CL32 memory, but the Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB kit I'm considering is difficult to find. The same memory appears to be available in a DDR5-6600 bin, sometimes for less money. Would it make sense to buy the 6600 MT/s kit and manually configure it to run at 6400 MT/s, ideally with a 1:1 UCLK:MCLK ratio on an AMD AM5 system? Or is a kit specifically rated for 6400 MT/s the safer option?

Yes, a 6600 MT/s kit can generally be configured to run at 6400 MT/s. You would need to set the memory speed and timings manually, then test it thoroughly for stability. Since the kit is binned for a higher speed, running it slightly slower should not be a problem, assuming the motherboard and memory controller can handle the settings.
If the 6600 kit is cheaper and uses the same type of memory chips, it makes more sense to buy that one and run it at 6400. A kit rated specifically for 6400 may have a profile that is easier to enable, but manually tuning the faster kit down should work just as well once stability is confirmed.
For AM5, 6400 MT/s is already near the practical limit for many CPUs if you want a 1:1 memory-controller ratio. Don’t assume 3200 MHz UCLK will work automatically—memory-controller quality varies between individual CPUs. DDR5-6000 is often the easier plug-and-play target, while 6400 may require tuning and stability testing.

Some newer CPUs can manage around 3200–3400 MHz UCLK, but it’s still dependent on the specific chip, motherboard, BIOS, and memory kit. I’d treat 6400 1:1 as something to verify rather than a guarantee.
