OneDrive is using about 556 MB on my Windows computer. I enabled it years ago when I first got the PC, but I turned it off long ago and never use it on any device. I don't think it contains anything important. Can I uninstall it completely without causing problems, or is it safer to leave it installed and just disable it?

The safest approach is usually to leave the small program installed but stop it from running. Open OneDrive’s settings, unlink the PC from your account, then disable OneDrive under Task Manager’s Startup Apps. This prevents syncing and keeps it from launching while avoiding possible folder or update-related problems.
On some Windows 11 setups, OneDrive automatically backs up Desktop and Documents. Check those folders before uninstalling, because removing the app won’t necessarily move your files back to local storage. The space used by the application is relatively small, so disabling sync may be more worthwhile than trying to remove every component.
Yes, you can uninstall OneDrive if you don’t use it. Before doing so, check that your Desktop, Documents, and other personal folders aren’t being redirected into the OneDrive folder. Also make sure any files stored there exist somewhere else first. Windows updates may reinstall it later, but removing it shouldn’t damage Windows by itself.
