I currently have a Core i9-13900KF in an ASUS Prime Z790-V WiFi motherboard, and the system is working perfectly. I'm considering replacing the motherboard with a cleaner-looking white model, but I'm wondering whether it makes sense to switch platforms and move to AM5 at the same time. If I do switch, which AMD CPU would be a worthwhile choice? I'm hesitant to spend a lot on a new motherboard only to replace the platform again, especially since there's nothing wrong with my current processor. Would moving to AMD offer enough of an upgrade to justify the extra cost, or should I simply find a better-looking LGA1700 motherboard and keep my existing CPU and RAM?

I’d keep the 13900KF. It’s still an extremely powerful processor, and changing to AM5 wouldn’t be much of an upgrade unless you have a specific workload or gaming performance goal. If everything is stable, replacing the motherboard for appearance alone probably isn’t worth the money.
The Prime board may not be your favorite aesthetically or feature-wise, but the Z790 platform itself is still solid. Unless you’re seeing instability, CPU degradation, or a workload where a newer chip clearly helps, I’d avoid rushing into an upgrade just to get a white motherboard.
There isn’t really a technical reason to switch platforms here. Look for a good white or silver LGA1700 board that supports your current RAM, and you can improve the look of the build without replacing a perfectly capable CPU, motherboard, and memory all at once.
AM5 is attractive if you’re building new or upgrading from an older system, especially because of its future CPU support. But from a 13900KF, the platform change would be expensive for little practical benefit. Only consider it if you can sell your current parts for a good price and have a clear reason to switch.
That makes sense. I was mostly worried about spending a lot on an LGA1700 board when AM5 has a longer upgrade path, but I probably don’t need to change everything just for aesthetics.
