Is Microsoft's activation service experiencing problems right now? I'm trying to activate Windows and upgrade a newly installed Home edition to Pro, but the system can't authenticate the existing installation. I'd like to know whether others are seeing the same issue or if the problem is limited to my device.

I’m seeing the same thing across multiple devices. The activation page sometimes loads, but errors out later, so it doesn’t seem to be isolated to one computer.
Yes, activation appears to be having widespread problems today. I’m setting up new machines and none of them can activate successfully, including Home-to-Pro upgrades.
There are still reports of activation failures, including error 0x8004FE94. It may be worth waiting and trying again later, since the service briefly started working for some people.
This is also affecting automated device setup and provisioning, so the issue seems broader than regular Windows activation. Several newly configured systems are failing to complete setup.
That matches what I’m seeing too. Testing from other devices gives the same intermittent errors.
