I accidentally dropped my brand-new 55-inch Samsung S90F OLED while trying to mount it. It landed on the bottom-right corner against a table, cracking the screen. A line now runs upward and across the display from the impact point. The TV still powers on and produces sound, but the picture began blinking every few seconds, and after I lightly touched the area near the crack, the screen stopped lighting up completely. Could this be caused by a loose ribbon cable connecting the panel to the main board, or is the OLED panel itself most likely destroyed? I have not opened the TV yet and would appreciate any advice before deciding whether to have it inspected, repair it, or salvage it for parts.

If the actual OLED panel is cracked, it is almost certainly beyond a practical repair. The panel contains a huge number of delicate electrical connections, and the ribbon cables are only a small part of that system. A damaged panel can blink, lose the image, or fail completely after even slight movement. Replacing the panel would likely cost close to—or more than—a new TV.
Before writing it off, check whether your credit card or purchase protection includes accidental-damage coverage. Some cards cover recently purchased electronics even when the manufacturer warranty does not. Keep the receipt and photos of the damage, and do not disassemble the television until you have checked those options.
OLED pixels produce their own light, so this is not a conventional backlight failure. Since the glass and display area are visibly cracked and the image disappeared after the impact, the panel itself is the most likely failure rather than a loose cable. Avoid opening or flexing the TV, because that could cause additional damage. You can still ask Samsung or a repair shop for a diagnosis, but panel replacement is usually uneconomical.
That is what I was afraid of, but I appreciate the explanation. I will probably have Samsung inspect it before giving up completely.
