I'm planning some upgrades but I'm not sure what should come first. My current system has an RTX 5070 Ti, a Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB of DDR4 memory, and an A520M-K V2 motherboard. How severe is the CPU or memory bottleneck likely to be, and what would be the smartest upgrade for gaming?

There isn’t one universal answer because it depends heavily on your monitor resolution, refresh rate, games, and settings. At 1080p with competitive settings, the Ryzen 5 5600 can limit the RTX 5070 Ti. At 1440p or 4K with higher settings, the GPU will usually be the limiting component instead. Check usage while gaming: consistently low GPU usage alongside a busy CPU generally indicates a CPU limitation.
You may not need to upgrade immediately. At 1440p or 4K, especially with upscaling or frame generation, the 5600 can still provide a good experience. If you are already happy with your frame rates, consider a better monitor or simply increase the RAM rather than replacing the whole platform. Moving to AM5 would be a larger upgrade involving a new motherboard, DDR5 memory, and CPU.
The first inexpensive upgrade should probably be memory. Modern games can benefit from 32GB, so adding another matching 16GB kit is worthwhile if your current RAM is running in a compatible configuration. It won’t necessarily increase average FPS dramatically, but it can improve smoothness and reduce stuttering.
