Is the iPhone 15 or iPhone 17 the better long-term upgrade from an iPhone 13?

I currently use an iPhone 13 and am deciding between an iPhone 15 for €528 and an iPhone 17 for €849. My priorities are strong battery life, smooth everyday performance, and keeping the phone for several years without needing another upgrade soon. Is the iPhone 17 worth paying the extra €321, or would the iPhone 15 offer better value?

The iPhone 15 should be more than good enough for those needs. It offers a smooth experience, solid battery life, and should receive software updates for years, so €528 sounds like the better value unless you specifically need features exclusive to the 17.

You could also look at the iPhone 17e, which is positioned as a more affordable newer model. It may offer a better balance between the iPhone 15 and 17, depending on its battery life and current price.

If you are open to switching platforms, compare similarly priced Android phones too. Some offer excellent batteries and long software-support periods, although staying with iPhone may be preferable if you already rely on Apple services and accessories.

It may be worth checking the iPhone 16 as a middle-ground option. It could give you some newer hardware and extra longevity without paying the full €849 for the iPhone 17.
