I can buy an Intel Arc B580 for $325 or a Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB for $460. I know the 9060 XT is faster, but I'm trying to decide whether the performance improvement, extra VRAM, and longer-term support are worth paying an additional $135. I'm upgrading from an RTX 3060 and mainly want better performance at 1440p. Should I buy one now, or wait until Labor Day in case better sales appear?

I’d lean toward the Radeon for long-term use. AMD tends to be the safer option for driver support and compatibility, especially if you might eventually use SteamOS or another Linux-based gaming setup. Under Windows, both cards can work well, so your operating system and game preferences matter.
The RX 9060 XT 16GB is the better choice if the extra $135 fits your budget. It’s roughly 35–40% faster, has more VRAM, and generally offers better upscaling and software support. For a jump from an RTX 3060 to 1440p gaming, the larger performance increase makes the price difference worthwhile.
Before deciding, compare the 9060 XT with nearby alternatives as well. If a slightly more expensive card offers a substantial performance increase, it might be worth considering, but between these two options the 9060 XT is the stronger and more future-proof purchase.
The B580 is only worth choosing if keeping the cost as low as possible is your main priority. Otherwise, the 9060 XT should provide a much more noticeable upgrade from a 3060. Waiting for Labor Day could bring a discount, but there’s no guarantee the Radeon will drop enough to change the overall value, so buying now is reasonable if you need the card.
That makes sense. Since I’m specifically aiming for a significant 1440p upgrade over my 3060, the smaller savings on the B580 probably aren’t as compelling.
