I recently ordered parts for my first PC build and chose an RTX 5070 Ti with a Ryzen 7 7700. I only play games casually from time to time, so I'm wondering whether these components make sense together or if the processor will hold the graphics card back. I'm still learning about PC hardware, so please keep the advice beginner-friendly.

Yes, that’s a perfectly usable combination. In most games, especially at higher resolutions, the RTX 5070 Ti will be doing most of the heavy lifting, and the Ryzen 7 7700 is more than capable of keeping up. You shouldn’t have any major bottleneck concerns.
A faster gaming-focused CPU could improve performance in some CPU-heavy or very high-refresh-rate games, but upgrading to something like a 7800X3D isn’t necessary here. That kind of upgrade would add cost, and the 7700 should handle modern games without trouble.
It’s not the most performance-optimized pairing possible, but it’s still completely fine. The Ryzen 7 7700 offers solid gaming and productivity performance, and it makes even more sense if you got it at a good price. For occasional gaming, this setup should be excellent.
The build was already getting expensive, so I had to save money somewhere. It sounds like sticking with the 7700 was a reasonable choice.
