Is There a 5V ARGB-to-12V RGB Adapter?

My motherboard only has a 5V 3-pin ARGB header, but I need to connect a 12V 4-pin RGB strip for a monoblock. Are there any ready-made adapters that can convert the motherboard's ARGB signal and provide the correct 12V power for the strip? I've only been able to find adapters designed for the opposite direction. A short 5V ARGB strip may not be available for this build, so I'm hoping to reuse the 12V strip instead.

A simple passive adapter won’t work because these are different systems. The 12V 4-pin connection uses separate analog power channels for red, green, and blue, while 5V 3-pin ARGB sends digital color data on a dedicated signal line. The strip also needs an actual 12V power source, not just a pin rearrangement.

That makes sense. I was wondering whether an adapter could draw the required voltage directly from the power supply, but it sounds like the signal conversion is the bigger issue.

The practical option is to use a separate 12V RGB controller, assuming the strip is compatible with it. If you need software control from the motherboard, you’d need a controller with a USB connection or another supported control interface. A purpose-built converter may cost more than replacing the strip with a suitable 5V ARGB model.

I may have to compare the cost of a controller with finding a short enough 5V ARGB strip. I was hoping for a simple adapter, but it sounds like there isn’t one that just changes the connector.

It can be done, but it requires active electronics such as a microcontroller and transistor drivers to translate the digital ARGB data into the three analog RGB channels. There don’t seem to be many inexpensive off-the-shelf converters in this direction, and building one would be fairly involved if you haven’t worked with microcontrollers before.
