Is there one platform for zero-touch provisioning, IT management, and asset tracking?

The initial zero-touch process is tied to the operating system vendor. Windows devices use Windows Autopilot, Apple devices use Apple Business Manager enrollment, and Android devices use Google Zero-touch Enrollment. Those services can often direct devices to a third-party management platform, but the OS vendor's enrollment service is still part of the process. Intune can manage policies and enrollment for multiple device platforms once they are configured to use it.

For Windows, Autopilot with Intune is the usual approach. The device hardware identifier is registered, then the computer can be shipped directly to the employee. During the out-of-box setup, it enrolls, applies configuration, installs applications, and assigns the device to the right user. An ITSM or asset platform can usually query Intune and automatically populate its asset or CMDB records afterward.

A single platform may cover provisioning, endpoint administration, IT asset management, and help desk functions, but it generally cannot replace the OS vendor's enrollment infrastructure completely. For Windows, Autopilot remains the native zero-touch foundation, while a third-party platform may handle management afterward or integrate with Intune. Be cautious of claims that a product independently provides every part of the Windows provisioning chain.

There are platforms that combine endpoint management, asset management, and service management, but check exactly how they handle the Windows enrollment step. Some integrate with Autopilot and Intune, keeping users, devices, software, and asset records synchronized. Others provide their own endpoint provisioning workflow. Compare the Active Directory integration, application deployment, policy coverage, hardware inventory, and how much of the asset synchronization is actually automatic.
