I'm new to building PCs and put together a parts list for a gaming system costing about $1,400. I'm planning to use a Micro Center bundle with a Ryzen 5 7600X3D, Gigabyte motherboard, and 16GB of memory, which brings the actual total to roughly $1,471 rather than the higher parts-list estimate. I'd like the system to handle games such as Cyberpunk 2077 at attractive settings, competitive shooters like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege, and Cities: Skylines 2, which I currently play on an old computer. I'm especially interested in 4K capability, but I'd appreciate honest feedback about the build, expected performance, and any parts that should be changed.

The 7600X3D is a particularly good choice for Cities: Skylines 2 because the extra cache can help with simulation-heavy workloads. The main concern is the 16GB of memory, especially if the bundle includes only one stick. Cities: Skylines 2 can use a lot of RAM during larger or later saves, so moving to a matched 32GB kit would be worthwhile when your budget allows.
The graphics card should handle 4K reasonably well, but keep your expectations realistic. It can deliver good 4K performance with settings adjustments and upscaling, though you shouldn’t expect maximum settings and a locked 120 FPS in every demanding game. For competitive shooters, 1440p should be very comfortable and provide a better balance of image quality and performance.
This looks like a strong build overall, but I’d set your main target at 1440p rather than native 4K. A good 1440p monitor will still look excellent and gives the graphics card much more room to maintain high frame rates. You should be able to use upscaling for 4K in some games, but Cyberpunk at native 4K with maximum settings won’t consistently deliver extremely high frame rates.
I’d also consider spending a little more on the CPU cooler. A Thermalright Phantom Spirit or Peerless Assassin would generally be a better long-term choice than a basic cooler and should keep temperatures and noise under control. Otherwise, the parts selection seems well balanced for a powerful 1440p gaming PC.
That makes sense. I was trying to keep the bundle savings, but I’ll look into replacing the single 16GB stick with a matched 32GB kit.
