I haven't built a PC in more than ten years and I'm getting the urge to put together a new gaming rig. I mainly want to play World of Warcraft, Diablo 4, Star Wars: Zero Company, Baldur's Gate 3, StarCraft 2, and Dawn of War 3 and 4. I currently use a 24-inch 1080p 144Hz monitor and would like to stay near 120 FPS in WoW. I'm also curious how well this system will handle ray tracing, since that wasn't really a factor in my last build. I realize newer games may require lowering some graphics settings. My current parts list is a Gigabyte B850M motherboard, Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 5070 12GB, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL36 memory, and a Corsair 750W PSU. I'm also considering an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB as a cheaper alternative. How does this build look, and would either GPU be a sensible choice for my monitor and games?

I’d stick with the RTX 5070 if the price difference is reasonable. The RTX 5060 Ti’s extra VRAM is unlikely to matter much for this particular gaming setup unless it is substantially cheaper or you have a separate productivity workload that benefits from 16GB. The 750W Corsair power supply should be appropriate for this configuration.
That hardware would be very strong for 1080p gaming. It should handle your listed games easily, including ray tracing, and reaching 100 FPS or more in many titles should be realistic. A 24-inch 1080p 144Hz display is also a reasonable match if that size feels comfortable to you, although larger screens often look better at 1440p.
It’s a 24-inch monitor. I tried a larger one, but it didn’t feel as comfortable, possibly because of my viewing distance, so I’d rather stick with 24 inches.
Before buying the parts individually, compare the total price with current prebuilts. A system with similar hardware and an RTX 5070 may be available for around $1,600, which could save money and still give you a solid setup.
For 1080p, especially with the games you listed, this is arguably more performance than you need. The system would be better suited to 1440p, but it will give you plenty of headroom for high refresh rates and future games at 1080p.
That makes sense. I’ll probably keep the 5070 unless the 5060 Ti ends up being significantly cheaper.
