I'm planning to build a powerful PC for gaming, video editing in Vegas Pro, music production, and general creative work. My current parts list is an RTX 5080 16GB, Ryzen 9 9900X, B850 Wi-Fi motherboard, 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM, a 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, 360mm liquid cooler, 1000W 80+ Gold power supply, and an airflow-focused case with additional fans. I'd like the system to remain capable for around five years. Are these parts well balanced, or should I change the CPU, RAM, storage, or anything else?

The main choice depends on how you’ll divide your time. An X3D processor such as the 9800X3D or 9900X3D would improve gaming performance, while the regular 9900X is a stronger all-around choice for rendering and exporting. If gaming and editing are equally important, a higher-core X3D model could be a good compromise, but it may not be worth the extra cost for everyone. Also, 64GB of RAM is useful for heavy video projects and multitasking, but 32GB is enough for most gaming and can save money. You can usually upgrade later, provided the motherboard has suitable slots and you buy a compatible matching kit. Consider adding a second 2TB SSD so your applications, games, footage, and project files are easier to organize.
That’s an extremely high-end build and it should handle modern games, Vegas Pro, music production, and other demanding work very comfortably. With sensible maintenance and good cooling, it should remain useful for around five years. Just make sure the motherboard and power supply are reputable models rather than choosing only by wattage or price.

Don’t overlook the monitor. A system this powerful deserves a quality 4K display with at least 144–165Hz if you want sharp visuals and smooth gaming. A 1440p high-refresh OLED is also a great option if you prefer higher frame rates. Resolution affects image detail, while refresh rate affects how smooth motion looks, so choose based on whether visual clarity or competitive smoothness matters more to you.
The monitor is important to me too—I don’t want to spend this much on the PC and not be able to see the difference. I’ll start with one and add more later.
I’ll research the X3D options and check whether starting with 32GB makes sense for my projects. Adding another SSD later sounds useful too.
