My 2020 MacBook Pro shows that it's connected to Wi‑Fi, but I can't actually access the internet. I've restarted the Mac and router, updated and reinstalled the software, changed the DNS settings, and confirmed that no proxies are enabled. I've tried nearly every troubleshooting step I could find and would prefer not to erase the Mac completely. What else can I try to identify or fix the problem?

Try removing the Wi‑Fi network service itself and adding it back. Open Network settings, right-click or control-click Wi‑Fi, delete the service, then use the menu at the bottom to add a new Wi‑Fi service. Reconnect to your network afterward.
First isolate whether the issue is the Mac or the network. Check whether another device can browse through the same router, and see whether the Mac works on a different Wi‑Fi connection. If possible, try connecting the Mac directly to the router with an Ethernet adapter. You can also look for an option to reset the network settings before considering a full factory reset.
That makes sense. I’ll test it with another device and a different connection so I can figure out whether the Mac or the router is causing it.

Thanks, I’ll try that when I get home. This problem has been incredibly frustrating!
