I opened my PC case to check the brand of RAM installed. I only removed the side panel and lightly touched the memory, but after putting everything back, the computer no longer displays a signal. The CPU cooler appears to press against the RAM, so removing and reinstalling the modules may be difficult because the cooler would need to come off. Is this normal, and what should I check first?

Start with the simple cable checks: verify the monitor is on the correct input and that the HDMI or DisplayPort cable is connected to the graphics card if you have one. Also check the motherboard power connection and any cables near the RAM that may have been bumped. Even light contact can sometimes shift a memory stick enough to prevent booting, so if the cable checks do not help, the RAM will need to be firmly reseated. Follow the cooler and motherboard instructions if removing the cooler is necessary, and do not force the memory module around it.
No signal after opening the case usually means something was slightly disconnected or not seated properly. Check that the display cable is plugged into the graphics card rather than the motherboard, then power the PC off completely and reseat the RAM. Make sure each module is fully locked into its slot and installed in the correct position, commonly slots 2 and 4. In the future, tools such as CPU-Z or HWiNFO can show the RAM information without opening the case.
HWiNFO64 is another good option for checking the memory details. If the RAM is not fully clicked into place, reseating it should be one of the first things to try.
I only removed the side panel and touched the RAM slightly. The CPU cooler is pressing against it, which makes taking the module out and reinstalling it difficult because I may need to remove the cooler first.
