I bought an HP OmniBook just three days ago, and the mouse cursor keeps showing a flickering blue loading circle even though nothing appears to be happening. Checking Task Manager doesn't show any obvious program using resources. A factory reset temporarily fixes the problem, but it eventually returns. Has anyone dealt with this issue or found a reliable solution?

Start by opening HP Support Assistant and checking for BIOS, chipset, graphics, and other driver updates. A driver or firmware issue could be causing the loading indicator to hang.
Since the laptop is only a few days old, I’d contact HP support or the retailer. Having to factory-reset a brand-new machine is a strong sign that it may be faulty or needs service under warranty.
I was hoping to avoid returning it, but contacting HP now seems like the only realistic option.
You can try reinstalling the suspected device drivers. In Device Manager, remove the relevant device—such as the touchpad, mouse, or display adapter—then restart the laptop so Windows can detect it and install a fresh driver automatically.
I tried updating everything through HP Support Assistant, but unfortunately it didn’t make a difference.
