I'm looking to upgrade from my 8GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 to a 16GB Radeon RX 9070 XT, probably a Hellhound or Reaper model. Prices have risen recently, seemingly because of increased demand from AI and data centers. The cheapest reliable in-stock option I can find is around £700, and I'm unsure whether that's a reasonable price or whether I should wait for prices to fall again. I'm also eager to play Insomniac's Spider-Man 2, since my current card only manages about 40–50 FPS. Would you buy the card now, or wait for a better deal?

I’d try optimizing the current setup before spending that much. Check whether upscaling or frame-generation options make Spider-Man 2 playable enough for you. If that still doesn’t meet your expectations, then buy the 9070 XT—but don’t purchase it solely because people are making confident predictions about prices rising forever.
If you can comfortably afford it and you want to play the game now, buying it is reasonable. Nobody can predict the market, and there’s no guarantee that prices will drop. Waiting only makes sense if you’re happy to keep using the RTX 4060 for a while.
I’d lean toward buying sooner rather than later. GPU prices and availability have been unpredictable, and £700 may look more reasonable if stock becomes limited. The 9070 XT should be a major upgrade and is a much better fit for high settings and higher frame rates than the 4060.
The Hellhound sounds like a solid choice, but make sure the rest of the system can support it, especially the power supply and case clearance. Updating the motherboard BIOS may also be worthwhile, although it isn’t normally required just to install the graphics card.
