I'm close to finishing my PC build and need to decide between the 9060 XT 16GB I originally planned to buy and the 9070 GRE 12GB. I've heard some reports of difficult-to-fix crashes with the 9060 XT, which has made me consider switching. My GPU budget is under $600, I'll be gaming at 1440p, and I mainly play Helldivers, Battlefield 6, and newer releases. Is the 9070 GRE worth the extra cost, or should I stick with the 9060 XT?

The 9070 GRE is a very solid 1440p card and should be a better fit for Helldivers, Battlefield, and upcoming demanding games. Don’t make the decision based on crash reports alone—the cards use the same general architecture, so stability shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Compare the actual prices, then take the GRE if the premium is reasonable.
I haven’t seen any widespread stability problems with the 9060 XT. Any current GPU can run into driver issues depending on the system, but the two cards should be similarly reliable. Price and performance are the bigger factors here.
For 1440p and newer games, I’d choose the 9070 GRE if you can find it below $500 or if it’s within roughly 15–20% of the 9060 XT’s price. It offers around 30% more performance in many situations, which makes it the stronger long-term option.
The regular 9070 is outside my budget, so I’m only comparing the GRE with the 9060 XT.
