I'm nearly ready to build my PC and originally planned to buy an RX 9060 XT 16GB, but I'm now considering the RX 9070 GRE instead. I've heard reports of difficult-to-fix crashing problems with the 9060 XT, though I'm not sure how widespread or legitimate they are. My GPU budget is under $600, and I'll be gaming at 1440p in titles like Helldivers, Battlefield 6, and other newer releases. Is the 9070 GRE worth paying extra for, or should I stick with the 9060 XT?

The crashing concern probably shouldn’t decide this by itself. Both cards use the same general architecture, and driver problems can happen with any GPU. For a 1440p build, compare the actual prices and performance instead. If the 9070 GRE is within roughly 15–20% of the 9060 XT’s price, it’s the stronger choice because it offers noticeably more performance.
I’d lean toward the 9070 GRE for your games and resolution, especially if you can find one below $500. It should provide more headroom for newer 1440p titles and likely age better than the 9060 XT. Just make sure it still fits your overall budget.
The GRE is commonly around 30% faster while costing only about 15% more, depending on your region and the specific models available. Since you’re playing newer games at 1440p, that extra performance is more useful than worrying about unconfirmed stability reports.
The regular RX 9070 is outside my budget, so I’m only comparing the 9070 GRE with the 9060 XT.
