I'm planning to build a new gaming PC for my birthday or Christmas and have already decided on an RX 9070 GRE graphics card. I'm stuck between the Ryzen 5 7600X3D and Ryzen 5 9600X, though. Benchmark results seem mixed, with each CPU winning in different games. Which one would make more sense for this build and offer the better long-term value?

Both processors should pair well with an RX 9070 GRE. If the price difference is reasonable and gaming is your priority, I’d choose the 7600X3D. If the 9600X is noticeably cheaper, it’s still a very capable option, and you could put the savings toward another component or a future upgrade.
The 9600X is generally better for non-gaming workloads and can be competitive in games, but it doesn’t consistently beat the 7600X3D for gaming. The X3D model is also likely to age better as newer games become more dependent on cache and CPU performance.
