I'm looking for advice about whether I should upgrade my current PC given the ongoing RAM shortage. It has a Ryzen 7 5700X, 32GB of Corsair DDR4-3200 memory, and an RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM. The system currently works well, but I'm wondering whether buying more RAM or upgrading other parts now would make sense, and how long I can realistically continue using AM4 before moving to an AM5 platform becomes necessary.

That’s still a very capable and balanced system. If it handles the games and applications you use at the performance you want, there’s no real reason to upgrade just because newer hardware exists. Thirty-two gigabytes is also plenty for most gaming PCs right now.
I’d avoid buying RAM preemptively because of shortage concerns. Upgrade when you actually run into memory limits, such as frequent paging, stuttering with your usual workload, or needing more than 32GB. Otherwise, keep the money for a future platform upgrade when AM5 offers a performance improvement you can actually feel.
If you want one last drop-in upgrade, a Ryzen 7 5800X3D—or 5700X3D if it’s priced better—could extend the life of the platform, especially for CPU-limited games. The extra cache can make a noticeable difference, but it’s optional rather than necessary with your current setup.
AM4 won’t suddenly stop working or reach an expiration date. You can keep using it until the performance becomes disappointing or you need features that the platform doesn’t provide. Software and operating system updates aren’t likely to suddenly make a Ryzen 5000 system unusable.
