I'm considering upgrading my PC. It currently has a Ryzen 7 3700X, Radeon RX 5700 XT, 16 GB of RAM, and an X470 Aorus Gaming Ultra motherboard. It was built around 2019–2020. I mainly play games at 1080p and also use software such as Fusion 360, but I'm thinking about moving to a 1440p monitor. Would it make more sense to replace the GPU, CPU, and RAM while keeping the AM4 platform, or should I build an entirely new AM5 system?

If your budget is limited, staying on AM4 is probably the better value. A Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D, 32 GB of DDR4, and a stronger GPU would give you a substantial upgrade without replacing the motherboard, memory, and CPU all at once. At 1440p, the GPU will usually matter more, and a good X3D processor should remain capable for years.
I don’t have a 1440p monitor yet, but I’m considering one. My main concern is that the RX 5700 XT may struggle at that resolution.
AM5 makes more sense if you’re building from scratch and want a longer upgrade path, but it may not provide the best performance per dollar in your situation. Since you already own a functional AM4 motherboard, upgrading to a 5700X3D or 5800X3D and putting the savings toward the GPU is likely the stronger choice. A complete AM5 rebuild is worth considering only if your budget comfortably covers the platform change and you specifically want future CPU upgrades.
Would a Radeon RX 9070 XT be a good match for a 5800X3D? I think my motherboard only supports PCIe 3.0.
