I'm planning for demanding upcoming games and currently have a Ryzen 5 7500F, MSI PRO B650M-A motherboard, Radeon RX 7700 XT, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a 750W power supply, a 1TB SSD, and a 1440p Samsung G50D IPS monitor. I'm considering either upgrading to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an RX 9070 XT, keeping the current CPU and buying an RTX 5070 Ti, or waiting for the next GPU generation. I'm interested in native 1440p performance and ray tracing, but I'm also concerned about future upscaling and frame-generation features. My current GPU is still performing well, so I'm wondering whether a 27-inch 1440p OLED monitor would provide a more noticeable improvement than a hardware upgrade. How much of a difference should I expect moving from a 1440p IPS panel to OLED, and is my current CPU and 750W PSU suitable for a higher-end GPU?

I’d avoid upgrading because of games that are still years away on PC. By the time those releases arrive, newer GPUs and features may offer better value. Your current setup is balanced enough for 1440p, and buying hardware now mainly because of future feature speculation could leave you paying a premium for something you don’t need yet.
The Ryzen 5 7500F is still a capable gaming CPU, especially at 1440p, so I’d prioritize the GPU if you want higher settings and ray tracing. The RX 9070 XT and RTX 5070 Ti are in a similar general performance class. The Nvidia card makes more sense if you strongly value DLSS and path tracing; otherwise, the Radeon card is usually the better value. Your 750W PSU should generally be adequate as long as it’s a quality unit and has the proper power connectors.
The CPU upgrade would mainly help in CPU-limited games or with very high refresh rates. It probably won’t make a major difference in most visually demanding 1440p titles compared with upgrading the GPU.
A 1440p OLED is a very noticeable upgrade from a typical IPS display. The near-instant pixel response, much better contrast, true blacks, and improved HDR can make games feel more impressive even at the same resolution. Since your RX 7700 XT is still satisfactory, upgrading the monitor now and waiting for the next GPU generation is a reasonable choice. Older OLED models may also become good bargains as newer panels arrive.
If you want an upgrade today, I’d choose the OLED monitor rather than replacing both the CPU and GPU. Save the larger hardware budget for the next generation, when the performance and feature differences will be clearer.
