I recently upgraded from an iPhone 12 mini to an iPhone 17 Pro Max. When I used my AirPods for the first time after switching phones, I asked Siri to change the volume, but Siri said the action had to be done through my vehicle's stereo instead. I removed both the AirPods and the truck from my Bluetooth connections, but the problem continues. How can I get Siri to recognize the AirPods correctly?

Check the Bluetooth details for the AirPods and make sure their device type is set correctly. Open Settings, go to Bluetooth, tap the info button next to the AirPods, and look for the Device Type setting. If the phone has them categorized as a car stereo or another device, correcting that may stop Siri from routing volume commands to the truck.

I checked the info screen for the AirPods, but it only shows the usual AirPods settings. There isn’t a Device Type option available there.
