This is most likely caller ID spoofing, not someone controlling your phone. Scammers can make a call display almost any number they choose, even your own number. They may have found your family member’s number through public records, data leaks, social media, or another exposed account. It doesn’t automatically mean they accessed your contacts. Still, secure important accounts, use unique passwords and two-factor authentication, and report repeated calls to your carrier.
The fact that your phone was with you and no call appeared in its history strongly points to spoofing. There’s usually no reliable way to tell exactly where the other person got the number, and it may simply have come from a list of phone numbers. Since the call wasn’t answered, ignore similar calls and warn your family not to trust caller ID alone.
