Steam, Xbox, and Microsoft Store stop connecting on certain days

My laptop regularly loses access to Steam, Xbox, and the Microsoft Store. This happens roughly five days a week, and the services usually start working again the following morning. On some days everything works normally, while on others the affected apps are completely unusable. Later, I also noticed that Google searches still loaded, but links to sites and services such as YouTube and Discord failed, while WhatsApp continued working. The laptop uses my own account, and I have more control over it than my parents do. What could cause this kind of scheduled or selective connection problem?

The weekday-only pattern strongly suggests some kind of schedule or filtering rather than a problem with Steam itself. Check the router for parental controls, internet access schedules, device-specific restrictions, or blocked categories. Your internet provider may also have family-safety controls enabled. Test the laptop on a phone hotspot when the problem occurs—if the services work there, the router or ISP is almost certainly responsible.

That seems possible, but it is my laptop and my own account, and I can usually manage the device myself. There are also random days when everything works perfectly, so I am not sure a fixed parental-control schedule explains it.

Because ordinary searches work while specific links and apps fail, this could be DNS filtering, a firewall, or a network-level content filter. When it happens, compare the laptop with another device on the same connection, temporarily try a different DNS provider, and check Windows Firewall or security software for blocked apps. Also test with a mobile hotspot. If only this laptop is affected, inspect its network settings and security software; if every device has the same issue, focus on the router or ISP.

WhatsApp still works during the outage, while YouTube and Discord links fail, so it seems like certain services or types of traffic are being filtered rather than the whole connection going down.
