I'm taking the Microsoft MD-102 exam tomorrow and spending today doing some last-minute studying. I've worked primarily with Microsoft technologies for about a year and a half, and I've completed several Microsoft courses plus specialized training through work, so I felt reasonably prepared at first. After watching several recent exam-prep videos, though, I'm worried about the reportedly tricky, scenario-based questions and the way the exam seems to make you choose between answers depending on specific circumstances. Has anyone taken the exam recently and can share how difficult it was or offer some last-minute encouragement? Update: I passed with a score of 723. The exam was harder than expected, and there were several questions about Security Copilot that I couldn't find much information about in Microsoft Learn. Microsoft Learn is available during the exam, but treat it as a backup rather than part of your main strategy. Looking up every uncertain answer can eat your entire time allotment. It’s better to know the major concepts well, then use the reference material only for a few questions you’ve flagged.
The exam includes more than standard multiple-choice questions—there may be fill-in responses, exhibits, case studies, and yes-or-no sections. A Microsoft practice assessment and some custom practice tests are useful for getting used to the wording. Make sure you understand how Intune policies and compliance settings work instead of relying on memorized answers.
Try not to let the nerves convince you that you’re unprepared. The exam is designed to test attention to detail, so slow down enough to identify the important conditions in each scenario. Even if the certification isn’t required for every job, it can document your knowledge and support a professional development plan—especially when your employer is paying for it.

The exam is definitely scenario-heavy, but your practical experience should help. Expect questions around compliance, Intune device configuration profiles, policy interactions, group exclusions, Microsoft Graph, roles, and Security Copilot. Case studies can be lengthy, but they’re manageable if you read the details carefully. Flag anything uncertain and return to it later.
