The flashy desktop setups are possible because Linux gives you a lot of freedom to customize the interface. Just remember that recreating one may take time and experimentation; the appearance of the desktop is separate from whether your games are compatible. For a beginner, testing Linux alongside Windows first is a safer way to learn.

Counter-Strike 2 is playable on Linux, but compatibility depends on the game and its anti-cheat system. Games using invasive kernel-level anti-cheat—such as some competitive shooters—are the biggest problem. A compatibility database like ProtonDB can give you a game-by-game idea of what to expect.

Performance depends on your hardware, drivers, distribution, and how each game behaves through Proton. Some games run a little faster, some a little slower, and many feel roughly the same. The most noticeable improvement is often general desktop use: quicker startup, fewer background processes, and less intrusive updating. Linux is not automatically faster for every game, though.

Linux can feel less frustrating for everyday use because you have more control over updates, startup services, and the desktop environment.
