I'm building my first PC and found a compatible setup with 32GB of DDR5 memory for about $200 CAD. The only major part I still need is a graphics card, so the total build would be around $1,000 CAD. I'm choosing between a used RTX 4070 Super for $850 and a used RTX 5070 for $900. They seem fairly close in performance, but the 5070 has newer features and GDDR7 memory. Is the extra $50 worth paying, or should I look for a cheaper 4070 Super instead? I'd prefer to stick with Nvidia because I've had a better experience with its software and features.

If you’re open to AMD, cards such as the RX 9070 or 9070 XT generally offer stronger performance and more VRAM for the money. However, Nvidia is still a reasonable choice if you specifically want DLSS, CUDA, better upscaling, or Nvidia’s software ecosystem. Since you already prefer Nvidia, I’d take the 5070 over this particular 4070 Super deal, but only after confirming its condition and warranty.
Between those two, I’d choose the RTX 5070. For only $50 more, you get the newer architecture, GDDR7, a longer feature-support window, and newer frame-generation features. The performance difference may not be huge in every game, but the newer card makes more sense when the prices are this close.
The bigger issue is that both prices are very high for used 70-class cards, especially the 4070 Super. A 4070 Super used to sell for much less, so I’d keep searching rather than rush into either deal. If you can find one closer to its normal used-market value, it could be the better buy.
These are Canadian marketplace prices, so availability and pricing may be worse than in the United States. Still, I’d check several listings and verify that the card works, has no overheating issues, and includes proof of purchase or remaining warranty.
