I'm upgrading my PC because newer games increasingly require or strongly recommend an SSD. I'm trying to keep costs down and am mainly considering an internal M.2 NVMe drive rather than external storage. I'd appreciate recommendations for good-value models, along with any advice on capacity, reliability, and compatibility.

A 1TB XG-series NVMe drive has worked well for me with no major issues. It’s worth comparing its price with other mainstream 1TB models, since gaming performance is often very similar between decent drives.
Check current SSD prices and reviews across several retailers before buying. A 1TB drive is usually the best value for gaming, and you should confirm that your motherboard has the right M.2 slot and supports the drive’s PCIe generation.
Used or OEM SSDs can sometimes be found cheaply, and some have plenty of remaining life. It’s more of a gamble, though, so only buy from a reputable seller and check the drive’s health, total writes, and return policy.
Kioxia drives are worth looking at for a reasonably priced new option. Their newer models have performed reliably for gaming, although you should compare warranty coverage and reviews for the specific model.
That sounds a little risky, but I’d consider it if the seller provides health information and has a good return policy.
