What are the best ways to start learning coding from scratch?

I've been frustrated with my current career and want to explore new employment options. Technology and video games have interested me since I was young, so learning to code seems like a promising direction. I recently tried Boot.dev's free introductory material and enjoyed it, but I'm unsure whether it's suitable for someone with no prior programming experience. Are there other free or paid websites, courses, or tools worth using alongside it? I'm also interested in learning about different paths, such as backend development, frontend development, data analytics, or game development, and would appreciate advice on how to figure out which area suits me.

Boot.dev can be a solid choice for beginners, especially if its structured approach helps you stay consistent. You’ll probably want to supplement it with other resources as you go, but building momentum and practicing regularly matter more than finding one perfect course.

FreeCodeCamp has a large selection of free courses, and Scrimba offers free introductory lessons with more advanced material available through its paid options. Using one of those alongside Boot.dev could give you extra explanations and practice.

The Odin Project is another strong option, particularly if you want to explore web development. It combines lessons with practical projects, which can help you build experience instead of only watching tutorials.

For a beginner-friendly Python route, Python With James offers formal tutorials, quizzes, coding exercises, and projects. Python is also useful for exploring backend development, automation, and data analysis before choosing a more specific direction.
