I have all the internal PC components and peripherals for my first build, but I only have the parts themselves. What tools, supplies, and software do I need to assemble everything and get the computer running?

For the physical build, you mainly need a #2 Phillips screwdriver, a smaller screwdriver set, a clean, well-lit workspace or desk, and some patience. Cable ties and thermal paste are often included with the components, especially the CPU cooler, but it is worth checking before you start. An anti-static wrist strap is optional; regularly touching the metal case while it is unplugged is usually enough to discharge static electricity.
You will also need an operating system on a USB drive. If you already bought an official Windows 11 USB installer, plug it into the finished PC and follow the installation prompts. Otherwise, use another computer to download Microsoft’s Windows 11 installation media tool and create a bootable installer on a blank USB drive, preferably 16GB or larger. Insert that USB into the new PC, start it, and choose the internal drive as the Windows installation target. Afterward, run Windows Update and install the latest graphics drivers from your GPU manufacturer. Creating the installer lets you install Windows, but it does not include a license; you can activate it later with a valid product key.
So the USB drive is what lets the new computer install Windows, and I would need another working computer to create that installer if I do not buy one already prepared?
