I'm building a personal website to share my fiction. Some chapters include mature or adult themes, and I may eventually add artwork that could be NSFW, although that is not planned yet. Everything will be fictional and legal, and I won't sell anything or monetize the site. It will mainly contain text, images, and links related to the writing.
Since this is just a hobby project, I'm looking for free hosting with policies that allow this kind of content. The site is static, so I'm especially interested in services that are easy to use for static files and have reasonable content rules. What free hosts would be the best options?

Free hosting can be useful for experimenting, but there are usually trade-offs involving storage, bandwidth, support, custom domains, or sudden policy changes. Since the site is static, comparing the host’s content policy and image restrictions is probably more important than server features.
Some paid hosts permit legal adult content, but free plans are much less consistent. Hostinger was mentioned as allowing legal adult material, though its hosting service is not free.
GitHub Pages or GitLab Pages can handle a static site at no cost, especially if you’re comfortable using a repository and a basic build tool such as Astro. They’re convenient, but their terms and abuse policies may be stricter around adult or explicit content, so check those carefully.
For a static site, Cloudflare Pages is a solid free option. You can connect it to a Git repository or deploy the files directly, and it generally works well for simple HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and images. Be sure to review the current acceptable-use rules for mature material before publishing.
Substack is more focused on publishing written content than hosting a traditional custom website. It could work if the main goal is sharing chapters, but it may be less flexible for a site with custom navigation, images, and themed pages.

Thanks—I checked Hostinger and confirmed that it isn’t a free service, but I’ll keep it in mind if I decide to use paid hosting later.
