I'm 28 and have played on consoles my whole life. I recently bought a current Logitech wheel, pedals, and shifter, but I still need a gaming PC for iRacing. I'm in the United States and would like to keep the budget around $1,000–$2,000, with about $1,500 being the ideal target. I already own monitors and two Meta Quest 3 headsets, though I'm not sure what PC specifications are needed to use one of them for iRacing in VR. I don't have any particular case or appearance preferences, and I'm willing to drive to the Indianapolis Micro Center if that helps with parts or a bundle. I'd appreciate advice on a reliable, cost-effective build.

For a roughly $1,500 tower, focus on performance rather than looks. A modern six- or eight-core gaming CPU, 32GB of RAM, a fast 1TB or 2TB NVMe SSD, and a strong midrange graphics card would be a good starting point. For Quest 3 VR, the graphics card matters more than it would for ordinary monitor play, so aim for something in the RTX 4070 Super/5070 or Radeon 7800 XT/9070 class if prices are reasonable. A Micro Center CPU-and-motherboard bundle could leave more of the budget available for the GPU. You’ll also need a reliable power supply, decent airflow, and a wired Ethernet connection if possible. iRacing itself is not extremely demanding on a monitor, but VR benefits from extra GPU headroom and careful graphics settings.
The Quest 3 can work well with iRacing through Quest Link over USB or Air Link over Wi-Fi, but a wired connection is usually easier to keep stable. Since VR rendering is much more demanding than a single monitor, I would avoid spending the entire budget on a premium CPU while pairing it with a weak graphics card. A current gaming CPU, 32GB of memory, and the best GPU you can fit into the budget is the sensible balance. You can always add storage later, but replacing the GPU is more expensive.
If you shop at Micro Center, compare the complete bundle price with individual parts before buying. Their bundles can be excellent, but make sure the selected motherboard has the features you need and that the power supply is a quality model.

I have monitors already, and I also own a couple of Quest 3 headsets. I wasn’t sure whether they could be used for iRacing or what level of PC would be required, so VR capability is important to me.
