I'm switching from a PS5 to my first gaming PC and want the upgrade to feel worthwhile rather than saving money by using weak parts. I'll mainly play Rust and occasionally Rainbow Six Siege. My budget is around £2,000 in the UK and needs to cover the PC, keyboard, and mouse, but I already have a 1080p 200Hz monitor that I can keep using for now. I'm not sure where to begin, so I'd appreciate advice on suitable parts or a complete build.

A parts-list builder is probably the easiest place to start because it has build templates by budget and use case. You can use one as a starting point and adjust it rather than choosing every component from scratch. For Rust in particular, avoid settling for 16GB of memory if the budget allows—32GB is a much more comfortable target. Rainbow Six Siege is relatively easy to run, so the build should be planned around Rust and your possible future move to 1440p.
Start by putting together a parts list on a UK-focused PC builder site. It can flag compatibility issues and show current prices from different retailers. For these games, prioritise a strong modern CPU, 32GB of RAM, a fast NVMe SSD, and a capable graphics card. Since you’re currently gaming at 1080p and 200Hz, you don’t need to spend the entire budget on an extreme GPU; a balanced system with room for a future monitor upgrade would make more sense. Don’t forget a reliable power supply, good airflow, and a decent CPU cooler.
The £2,000 needs to include the keyboard and mouse, but I already have a 1080p 200Hz monitor, so I can use that for now.
