My PC is several years old and I have never upgraded it. Games are starting to run poorly, and I suspect the RX 590 is the main limitation. I play mostly Fortnite, GTA V, and F1 25 at 1080p. My budget is roughly £650–£800. The rest of the system is a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and an MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX motherboard. Would upgrading the graphics card make sense, and which GPU would be a good match for this system?

Before choosing a specific card, check your power supply model and monitor refresh rate. At 1080p, a very expensive GPU may be overkill unless you are targeting high refresh rates or planning to move to 1440p later. You may also want to upgrade to 32GB of RAM eventually, but the RX 590 is the clear priority right now.
With that budget, almost any current midrange or higher GPU would be a huge improvement over the RX 590. For 1080p, look at something around the RTX 4070 Super or RX 7800 XT class, depending on pricing and whether you care more about ray tracing or raw performance. Just make sure your power supply has enough wattage and the correct connectors.
The GPU is definitely the first part I would replace. Your Ryzen 5 3600 can still handle those games at 1080p, although very high frame rates in Fortnite or F1 25 may eventually expose a CPU limit. A modern card in the £400–£600 range would already be a massive upgrade, so you do not necessarily need to spend the entire £650–£800 budget.
