I'm currently using a GTX 1080 with a Ryzen 7 3800X and 32 GB of DDR4 memory. The rest of the system has stayed mostly the same, aside from adding RAM. I have up to about €400 to spend on a graphics card and found a deal around €344 before taxes. What GPU would be a worthwhile upgrade, and should I be concerned about CPU bottlenecks or my power supply?

Your Ryzen 7 3800X should still pair reasonably well with a midrange GPU, particularly at 1440p or 4K. If you later want better minimum FPS or very high refresh rates, an AM4 upgrade makes sense: a Ryzen 5 5600X is a relatively inexpensive step up, while a Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the stronger gaming-focused option if you can find one at a good price.
The RTX 5060 Ti or RX 9060 XT would also be strong options if you can find one near €400. Going much faster than that may expose CPU limits, especially at lower resolutions or high refresh rates. Check your power supply’s wattage and required connectors before buying.
I was considering one of those cards because I found a good deal. I’ll check the PSU requirements before deciding.
A card around the RTX 5060 or Radeon RX 9060 XT would fit the budget well and provide a substantial upgrade over the GTX 1080. The best choice depends on local pricing, game support, and whether you care more about ray tracing or traditional rasterized performance.
I was thinking about eventually getting a 5800X3D so I could keep the AM4 platform and avoid buying DDR5. I’ve also seen claims that the 3800X is better balanced at 4K, so I may upgrade the GPU first and see how it performs.
