I currently have a GTX 1080, an i7-8700K, and 32 GB of DDR4 memory. RAM prices make a full upgrade too expensive right now, so I'm planning to replace the motherboard, CPU, and memory later. For the time being, what is the most powerful GPU that would work well with my i7-8700K without being excessively bottlenecked? My budget is around $600–$800 in the MENA region. I'm open to used hardware, although new would be preferable.

With that budget, an RTX 4070 Super-class card would be a sensible upper limit for the current system, especially at 1440p. The i7-8700K may limit performance in high-refresh 1080p games, but the GPU would still be a major upgrade over the GTX 1080 and could be carried over to your future platform. Check local pricing, since a well-priced RX 7800 XT or RX 7900 GRE could also offer excellent 1440p performance if ray tracing and NVIDIA features aren’t priorities.
I’m mainly looking at new cards, but I’ll compare those models with the used prices available locally. I don’t mind upgrading the rest of the system later if the GPU can be reused.
