I'm completely new to cloud computing and AWS. Could someone explain what AWS is and how it differs from a traditional VPS or VDS? I'd also appreciate advice on which option might be easier for a beginner to start with.

AWS has a service called Lightsail that works more like a conventional VPS and is probably the most approachable place to begin if you just need a basic server. EC2 is AWS’s more advanced virtual-machine service, but it comes with many configuration options and billing details that can be confusing. Make sure you understand pricing and set spending alerts before experimenting.
AWS, or Amazon Web Services, is a large cloud platform offering many different services—not just virtual servers. It includes databases, storage, queues, load balancers, container tools, monitoring, AI services, and much more. A VPS or VDS is usually a single virtual machine rented from a hosting provider, while AWS gives you a whole collection of building blocks that can be combined into an application.
