What low-profile GPU should I buy for Minecraft on a Dell Vostro 260s?

I'm 15 and have a Dell Vostro 260s with an Intel i3, integrated graphics, and 8GB of RAM. Older versions of Minecraft run acceptably, but versions newer than 1.16 require graphics support that my integrated GPU's drivers no longer provide. I only need a functional upgrade for playing Minecraft at around 30–40 FPS; I'm not looking for high-end performance. My budget is about $150. Since this is a small-form-factor computer, I need a low-profile card that can work without an additional power connector and with the existing power supply.

I’d avoid cards such as the RX 580, GTX 1660 Super, RTX 3060, or 1080 Ti. They’re either too large, need more power than this system can provide, or would be heavily limited by the older i3 and power supply. A 1050 Ti, 1650, or RX 550 makes much more sense.

An RX 550 low-profile card is the inexpensive option and should be enough for playable Minecraft settings. They’re often available used for around $50–$70. Check the exact model carefully, because some versions are full-height or have different power requirements.

The case and power supply matter more than raw GPU performance here. Confirm that the card is low-profile and does not require a six-pin connector before buying.

Used graphics cards can be a good deal, but there is always some risk that a heavily used card fails sooner. If possible, buy from a seller with returns and test it quickly. Also check whether the computer has a proprietary power supply or a very low wattage rating before upgrading.

A low-profile GTX 1050 Ti is probably the safest choice if you can find one at a reasonable used price. It should handle Minecraft well without needing an extra power cable, but make sure the listing includes the low-profile bracket. A low-profile GTX 1650 would be faster, though it may cost close to or slightly above your budget.
