I've been gaming for more than 10 years, mostly on older computers that belonged to other people, and I'm finally ready to build a new PC that I own and can maintain properly. Gaming is the main priority, although I occasionally use Blender and Unreal Engine. I play at 1440p and want a system that can handle demanding story games at 60 FPS or higher with high-to-ultra settings, while also delivering as much FPS as possible in competitive games such as Helldivers, The Finals, and Arc Raiders.
I don't have an extremely strict budget, but I want to avoid wasting money for tiny performance gains. I'm a college student with a side job and could save up to around 30,000 SEK if necessary, though I'd prefer to spend considerably less if possible. I'm buying only new parts in Sweden and don't need recommendations for peripherals.
The system should remain useful for several years and be reasonably easy to upgrade later. What CPU, GPU, motherboard, memory, storage, power supply, cooling, and case would make the most sense for this kind of all-around 1440p gaming build?

An older AM4 system with DDR4 can reduce the initial cost and still provide decent gaming performance, but it has a shorter upgrade path and is slower than a comparable AM5 build. Since you plan to keep the PC for a long time and upgrade it later, AM5 and DDR5 are the better foundations unless the savings are substantial.
A well-balanced build should land around 14,000–15,000 SEK for the level of performance you’re describing, assuming you avoid unnecessary premium parts. Cutting much further would usually mean reducing memory, storage, or GPU performance, which would work against the goal of high settings and high frame rates at 1440p. Prices for graphics cards, RAM, and storage can be particularly unfavorable, so compare several Swedish retailers before buying.
An AMD-based system is a strong choice if long-term upgrades matter. A current AM5 platform with a gaming-focused X3D processor, 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory, and a high-end graphics card such as an RTX 5080 would provide excellent 1440p performance. A capable 1000W ATX 3.1 power supply, a large airflow-focused case, a reliable air cooler, and separate 2TB system and 4TB game drives would round out the build. DDR5-6000 is generally a good balance between performance and price on AM5.
