I mainly play story-driven games, Rainbow Six Siege, and Valorant, and I'd like to get the highest gaming performance possible for the money. I already have a 1080p 200Hz monitor, so strong competitive-game performance matters to me. I was considering GPUs such as the RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT, but I realize they may be difficult to fit into this budget. I'm open to whichever graphics card offers the best value. I want all-new parts from reputable retailers and would appreciate a complete parts list with estimated prices, along with advice on which components I should prioritize.

If you can reach a Micro Center, their CPU-and-motherboard bundles can make a $1,000 build go much further. A bundle built around a Ryzen 5 2500X-class or newer gaming processor, combined with an Intel Arc B580 or another good-value GPU, could leave room for 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, a reliable power supply, and a decent case. Since you’re in Iowa and the nearest store is in Kansas, travel costs could easily cancel out the savings unless you’re already going that direction.
A value-focused build should prioritize the graphics card, then use a reasonably priced modern CPU and avoid overspending on features that won’t improve gaming performance. An Intel Arc B580 paired with a budget-friendly CPU could be worth considering, especially for 1080p gaming. Try to find a sale on the CPU, motherboard, and memory rather than stretching the budget for a higher-tier GPU that leaves too little for the rest of the system.
