For a straightforward budget upgrade, look for a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X if your AM4 motherboard supports it. On the Intel side, a used i5-10400F, i5-10600K, or i5-10700K can also be a solid improvement over the i3-10100F. The best choice mostly comes down to which CPU and platform is cheaper where you live.
You don’t necessarily need to switch platforms. An i5-11400, 11600K, or 11700K can still pair well with an RTX 3070 Ti, provided your motherboard supports the processor and has an appropriate BIOS update. However, some B460 boards are limited to 10th-generation CPUs, so verify the exact motherboard model before assuming 11th-generation compatibility.
The Ryzen 7 5700X3D or 5800X3D are excellent if you can spend around $200–$350, but they may be more CPU than you need for a value-focused build. A Ryzen 5 5600 is usually the sensible low-cost choice, while a 5700X3D makes more sense if you want stronger minimum frame rates and plan to keep the system for several years.
