I'm planning to sell my old RTX 3080 Ti online. I no longer have the original packaging, but the card fits securely in an RTX 5090 box that I still have. I could clearly state in the listing that the card is a 3080 Ti and that it will ship in a 5090 box, but I'm worried a buyer might overlook that detail and file a complaint. Is there a good way to cover or disguise the 5090 branding while still using the box, or would it be better to package the card another way?

The safest option is to avoid using the 5090 box altogether. Put the graphics card in an antistatic bag, protect it with foam or bubble wrap, and place it in a sturdy plain shipping box. That removes any chance of confusion and lets you keep the 5090 packaging for later.
Using the box is probably fine if you include clear photos of the actual 3080 Ti and write an accurate description stating that it does not include its original box. The packaging is less important than making sure the card is identified correctly and packed securely.
If you really want to reuse the box, cover the 5090 markings with plain paper or opaque tape. Still, a generic box with proper padding is the cleaner solution. Use the inner foam if it holds the card securely, then add enough cushioning so nothing can move during shipping.
The box itself may only sell for a few dollars, but keeping it still makes sense if you ever sell the 5090.
