I'm moving from London to Dubai and need to transport my gaming PC. It has a tempered-glass case, an RTX 3070, and a large tower-style CPU cooler, but I no longer have the original packaging. A door-to-door DHL shipment would cost roughly £250. For anyone who has done this internationally, how did you protect the components? Is professional packing worth it, or would taking the PC as checked luggage be safer?

It may be worth comparing the total cost with buying a replacement in Dubai. Sell the current system in the UK, then purchase locally—you might avoid the shipping risk and potentially get newer hardware for a similar overall price.
If you’re already shipping other household belongings, adding the PC to a professional moving shipment may be the easiest option. The packing and handling are usually better suited to fragile items than sending the tower through a standard parcel network.
Use plenty of dense foam, and remove the graphics card and large tower CPU cooler before transport. Those parts can put a lot of stress on the motherboard if the case is dropped or jolted. Ideally, have a professional packing service build a sturdy double-walled box with internal cushioning.
